Our Clinicians

Ida Civiero, RSW, MSW

Ida Civiero has spent 20 years developing a unique blend of expertise in social work. She received the 2012 Neinstein Award for excellence in Trauma Recovery work,  having counselled victims of abuse & violence, exploring developmental trauma & integrating creative rehabilitation approaches. Her practice embodies an anti-oppressive framework,  embracing the concept of caring witness.  Ida is eager to foster positive growth and development, assisting in improving the quality of life for those faced with cancer and mental health concerns, trauma and PTSD, addictions, concurrent disorders and social, emotional, cognitive, learning and physical disabilities.

Dr. Joseph Anthony De Leo, Ph.D., C.Psych. (supervised practice)

Dr. De Leo is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, currently under supervised practice. His clinical practice focuses on the treatment of individuals with complex psychological and addictions issues, including pain conditions. He received an Honors Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York (SUNY). He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) specializing in the treatment of substance use and anxiety/mood disorders (‘concurrent disorders’) and completed post-doctoral research at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill focusing on developing brief behavioural interventions for those with co-occurring addictions and mental health needs.

Jennifer Dillane, M.Phil., M.Sc.

Jennifer Dillane practiced as a chartered Forensic Psychologist , working with mentally disordered offenders for over 15 years in the United Kingdom. Her primary clinical responsibilities at Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists, include providing psychological treatment and assessments as part of a multidisciplinary team. She completed her MPhil in Psychology (University of Glasgow) and her MSc in Criminological Psychology (University of Birmingham). She worked in the NHS in several medium and high secure settings, as well as for Barnardos working therapeutically with children and young people with histories of trauma. She has published research for the Scottish Executive focused on issues dealing with young people and families, a specialist project aimed at helping to reduce antisocial behavior, as well as in peer reviewed journals.

Beverley Gordon, M.Sc., MSW, M.A.

Beverley Gordon is a registered Social Worker with extensive training and experience in various counselling techniques. Beverley has a joint honours B.Sc. in Psychology and Sociology (Bath University, UK), a M.Sc. in Industrial/Occupational Psychology (Hull University, UK), a Masters in Social Work from McMaster University, and a M.A. in Counselling Psychology (Yorkville University, Fredericton, NB). She has several years experience as a Psychologist and Mental Health Specialist in Rehabilitation with the National Health Service, UK. She has been working with Kaplan and Levitt since 2000. Her work involves psychotherapy and assessment for treatment.

Wavie Johnson, M.Sc. , C.Psych.

Wavie Johnson is an experienced rehabilitation psychologist with a graduate degree in applied clinical psychology and more than 20 years experience in clinical and rehabilitation neuropsychology. She has worked with people who have been traumatically injured and those with progressive neurological disorders. Her work with Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists includes assessment and diagnosis  of clients injured in motor vehicle accidents, and treatment of cognitive, anxiety and mood disorders

Dr. Sunil Kumar, Ph.D. , C.Psych. (supervised practice)

Dr. Kumar is registered as a Clinical & Counselling Psychologist, currently under supervised practice. He joined Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists in Nov. 2015 and provides assessment and treatment services. He completed his M.A. (gold medalist) and M.Phil. in psychology at Kurukshetra University, followed by a Ph.D. in Personality psychology from the JNV University in India. He started his supervised practice in 2015 with clear path solutions, Toronto. He has served as Director SMBS Canada, Lecturer in Psychology at Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, and Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour and HRM at School of Management, Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida.

Amy Moroz, M.Ed., C.Psych.

Amy Moroz is a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. With degrees from York University and the University of Toronto Amy has worked in private practice, forensic, university as well as in hospital environments.  For approximately 7 years she provided psychological assessment and treatment services, to individuals and groups, within the Integrated Mood & Anxiety Program at Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario. She was also a member of the Homewood Research Ethics Board and a founding member of Neuroscience Education & Research at Homewood (NERHo).

She is trained in providing Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Therapy, Emotion-Focussed Therapy, Solution-Focussed Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Structured Relapse Prevention (for addiction issues). She is the developer of Mind Training.com and is keenly interested neurally inspired therapies.  She is a practitioner of Vipassana meditation, popularly know as Mindfulness Meditation, for over 20 years, and has received training with various respected meditation teachers in Canada, United States, United Kingdom and Asia.  She has a special interest in the intersection of neuroscience and psychotherapy.

Dr. Kristoffer Romero, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Dr. Romero is a registered Clinical Neuropsychologist with adult and geriatric populations. He joined Kaplan & Levitt Psychologists in 2015, and provides neuropsychological assessment, including psychological disability assessments. He also maintains an active role in research through collaborators from the University of Toronto and York University.  He received his B.Sc., M.A., and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Toronto, where he specialized in memory disorders. His completed his clinical training at various university-affiliated hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area, including Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Baycrest Health Sciences.

Dr. Mervin Blair, Ph.D., C.Psych.

 

Dr. Blair is registered as a Clinical Neuropsychologist. He provides neuropsychological consultation services to Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists. Dr. Blair obtained his B.Sc. (Honours) in Psychology from Western University, Canada, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at McGill University Health Centre (Allan Memorial Institute) with a combined focus in neuropsychology and psychotherapy, and at the Montreal Neurological Institute with a focus in neuropsychology. His primary clinical and research interests are in neurological conditions, including various neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal degeneration), mild cognitive impairment, stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy, among others.

Dr. Maria Armilio, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Dr. Maria Armilio provides psychological and neuropsychological assessment and treatment at Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists. She received her B.Sc.H. from Queen’s University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, and conducted her graduate research at the Rotman Research Institute. She completed her predoctoral internship in clinical neuropsychology at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. She completed her post-doctoral training with the Department of Psychology at the Credit Valley Hospital. Currently, Dr. Armilio is licensed with the Ontario College of Psychologists to practice in area of Clinical Neuropsychology with adult and geriatric populations.


Dr. Anthony (Tony) Hopley, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Dr. Hopley is a Clinical & Rehabilitation Psychologist (Ph.D., University of New Brunswick) currently expanding his practice to include Forensics. Dr. Hopley provides psychological services to incarcerated offenders, with a focus on facilitating societal reintegration. Further, Dr. Hopley is a consultant for Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists, performing disability assessments for personal injury claims and carrying out catastrophic impairment determination assessments. Finally, Dr. Hopley is a consulting Senior Clinician to the Homewood Health Return to Work Services Team, identifying factors influencing recovery and absence and the barriers to safe returns to work following mental health issues.


Dr. Leeor Granite

Dr. Granite is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, currently under supervised practice. His work focuses on clinical psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and cognitive rehabilitation with adult populations. He completed a specialized Bachelor of Science Honours in Psychology from York University and received his doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Clinical Neuropsychology from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Granite completed his pre-doctoral internship at Goodwill Neurorehabilitation in Portland, Maine, focusing on the assessment and treatment of individuals who sustained diverse brain injuries and cognitive difficulties associated with other medical issues. Dr. Granite’s other clinical experiences include practicums at the University of Chicago Medical Centre, Rush University Medical Centre, and Princess Margaret Hospital.

Our Administrative Staff

Helena Amorim

 

Helena  obtained her Bachelor of Arts, with Honours, from the University of Waterloo. She subsequently earned a Masters of Arts in Sociology from McMaster University. She joined the Kaplan and Levitt team in 2015 and has since then has taken on a variety of tasks within the practice. Helena provides administrative assistance to the Director of Psychological-Legal Services. She works closely with the partners, legal representatives and patients to provide seamless and professional service. She provides a warm and caring atmosphere, and is often the first contact for people attending for psychological-legal assessments.

Raquel Bryan

 

Raquel has an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sociology from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She is the first contact for many of our patients who are referred to our treatment clinic for a clinical assessment or treatment. Her compassion and love for working with people is demonstrated in her interactions with each patient to ensure their experience at the clinic is beneficial.

Elaine Chan


Elaine graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She is the administrative and systems manager at Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists. She is an integral part of the administrative team, coordinating most of the clinics systems. In doing so, she works closely with computer technicians, programmers and office partners. She provides technical support, organizes and supervises administrative activities, develops office procedures, ensures compliance of procedures, recruits administrative staff, orients and trains new employees and manages projects progress. She also liaises with clients, lawyers, insurers, health providers and vendors to help resolve various case related or general office issues.

Carla  Gonzalez

Carla obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and has been working at Kaplan Psychologists since 2002. She is the Clinical Intake Coordinator at the office. She receives and processes new clinical assessment and treatment referrals. She works closely with health care providers, insurers, legal representatives and patients to ensure patients obtain needed psychological services.

Carol Torrance

 

Carol comes to Kaplan and Levitt Psychologists with over 40 years in the accounting and invoicing fields. She graduated with an Honors Certificate from Mohawk College with a Computer Programming certificate for Micro Computers. Previously Carol worked for the Ministry of Health and has since applied her many talents to set up and organize the accounting and invoicing for Kaplan and Levitt.
